English language courses

Melbourne and Victoria’s regional colleges provide a range of English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS).

Classes are fully accredited by the government, cater to all levels of understanding, and are tailored to the needs of each student.

English language studies can be combined with a holiday or a professional internship with a Victorian company. Courses vary in length from four to forty-eight weeks and commence throughout the year.

Your teacher will have a professional teaching qualification, with training in the theory and practice of language learning.

Expect your English classes to be practical and interactive. Both formal academic studies and more casual classes are available.

Institutions set their own English language requirements for course entry. The English language score needed for entry to your course may be different to the score you need to secure your visa. Check the Department of Immigration and Citizenship website to find out if you need to show evidence of English language skills in order to obtain a visa.
