Exchange programs

Cultural exchange enriches the learning experience for all students and gives them a competitive edge in the global labour market.

Victorian education providers offer a wide range of student exchange programs. Contact your chosen education provider for details.

Exchange programs are available for international students who are studying at an eligible Victorian institution. Where an education provider in your country has an exchange partnership with a Victorian institution you may also be able to apply for an exchange program.

Schools

Victorian government schools have in place 280 agreements with overseas schools. These are managed by the International Division of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD). Access further information on DEECD's Secondary Student Exchange Program.

Non-government schools also have exchange agreements with overseas schools. These include student and teacher exchanges, curriculum collaboration and homestay programs.

Vocational Education and Training (VET)

A number of public VET providers have developed opportunities for student exchange and international learning.

Chisholm Institute of TAFE has an exchange program in Building and Design with the Vitus Bering Institute in Denmark and has transnational projects underway in China, India and Vietnam.

Box Hill Institute of TAFE is a member of the Global Education Network, an organisation providing networking and professional development opportunities for staff and students.

Higher Education

Victorian universities have over 800 student exchange agreements with institutions in more than 40 countries. Many overseas institutions offer opportunities for higher education students to attend a partner institution as part of their university studies. Education providers, in conjunction with the Commonwealth Government, may provide travel assistance and grants to help students take part in an exchange program. Enquire at your local education institution.
