Booking

Who can use the Hub facilities?

The Study Melbourne Hub Shanghai is open to students, parents, alumni, education and service providers to visit. Hub facilities are for use by students over 18 years of age who are currently enrolled with a Victorian education provider (not including ones with jointly run institutes/programs). Identification is required when you arrive at the Hub (see below for details).

Can students just drop in without a booking?

Yes, if there is space available, but you will need to complete a form on arrival and show proof of enrollment with a Victorian education provider.

Do students need to pay a fee for using the Hub?

The Hub is free for students to use.

What are the opening hours?

The Hub operates from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday to Friday.

Can students book multiple dates to visit?

Yes, please list the dates when you fill in the application on the WeChat mini-program.

Can students’ parents visit the Hub?

If students’ parents would like to visit the Hub to see the facilities, we encourage them to book and sign-in with the student.

Identification

What documentation can be used for identification?

The following can be used for identification and proof of enrollment with a Victorian education Provider (provide at least one):

  • Student ID Card
  • Letter of Offer
  • Certificate of Enrolment
  • Student enrolment details from the education provider’s official website
  • Academic Records

Facilities

What services and equipment are provided?

  • Quiet study space with free high-speed Wi-Fi, free coffee  and water
  • Information and advice about studying and living in Victoria
  • Referrals to student support services offered by the student’s individual Victorian education provider
  • Study Melbourne events and activities designed to enhance employment options, social connection, and student empowerment (check the calendar for schedule)
  • Education provider run events and activities designed to connect with and support currently enrolled students or engage with alumni and future students (check the calendar for schedule)
  • Board Room, 8 chairs with a table (2.4m * 1.2m), TV and video conferencing system equipped
  • Classroom, 6 chairs with writing board on each, TV and video conferencing system equipped

Is food allowed in the Hub?

To ensure a clean and healthy environment for the students, we don’t allow food on Level Two. Food from activities or events on Level Three cannot be taken to Level Two.

Are the meeting rooms available for students to use?

If you need to use the board room or the classroom for online learning, please list it in the booking form and send it back to Shanghai@studymelbourne.vic.gov.au

Can students access accommodation or visa services through the hub?

No, the Hub does not provide accommodation or visa services.  Students must seek their own independent accommodation and visa advice.

Group study

How can students make a group booking to study online courses together?

We encourage a group leader to book the facility through Shanghai@studymelbourne.vic.gov.au three business days ahead, then every group member needs to fill in the form individually upon request (8 students maximum). Student ID cards or other documentation will also be checked before entry is permitted to the Hub.

Event request

Who can host an event at the Hub?

Victorian education providers or students can use the Hub to host events and activities to support their students. Please note that the Hub is not for any commercial use. We encourage you to discuss your event plan with the Hub staff through Shanghai@studymelbourne.vic.gov.au.

Visiting the Hub

What is the directions to the Hub?

The address is Level 2, Building 15, No. 505 South Zhongshan Rd, Shanghai.

Subway:

Take Line 9 and get off at the "Xiaonanmen" Station, Exit No.3, then walk about 8 minutes.

Ferry:

Take a ferry and get off at East Fuxing Road Terminal, then walk about 5 minutes.

What parking is available at the Hub?

Our parking lot is still under construction at the moment, visitor parking is available at Zixia Road near Shangwen Middle School and Baidu Road, it is however a bit far from the Hub.

How does the Hub provide a COVID-safe environment?

The Study Melbourne Hub Shanghai will provide a COVID-safe environment by complying with all protocols and preconditions set by the relevant local Government and adhering to the public health advice and directions set by the local authorities.

The Hub will be regularly cleaned and sterilised every day, and temperature checks will be undertaken for anyone entering the Hub.

To maintain a COVID-safe environment for all stakeholders attending the Hub, capacity limits will be enforced to enable social distancing. This will reduce the overall number of attendees present in the Hub at any one time, and there may be wait times to enter the Hub during peak periods.

Appropriate booking and registration systems will be used to manage daily numbers and will assist with contact tracing efforts when required.
