The Victorian Government has identified ten strategic areas in its International Education Sector Strategy, to help deliver quality education services, enhance student experience, support exports and job growth, and ensure Victoria remains competitive in a dynamic and fast moving environment.
The Strategy is a refreshed vision for international education and central to Victoria’s position as the Education State, recognised globally for its high-quality and innovative education offerings. It creates a framework for actions that best address the fast changing challenges and opportunities our sector faces.
It includes a renewed focus on research engagement, further developing international services in our schools and supporting the growth of international education across the state, including in regional Victoria.
Importantly, the Strategy is a collaborative statement – informed through engagement with all elements of our sector, and with future actions to be undertaken in concert with institutions, industry and the community.
International Education has been identified as a priority industry in the Victorian Government’s Future Industries Fund, and a critical component of its Back to Work plan. In addition to the release of the Strategy, the Victorian Government has announced a $20 million Sector Growth Program. The Sector Growth Program makes funding available to Victorian-based projects that sit within Future Industries priority sectors, including international education.
