Take out your phone, shine your camera, it’s time to add more international experience to your album and film locally through the Walking Thomastown Tour!

A series of workshops are on offer for international students to brush up on film-making skills.  From planning and devising a film to editing your ideas and thoughts to screen, this is your opportunity to bring out the film maker in you.

Students are encouraged to attend Walking Thomastown, a night-time walking event that spans 2.5km of paths from Main St to German Lane and film their experience while enjoying a variety of light shows, projections, sculptures and illuminations along the way.

Options of how you present are endless, whether you prefer Vlogs, interviews, TikTok style mini clips, documentation clips or collage of images, etc. In this digital era, everyone can become a digital storyteller.

The workshops will guide you on where to start, and offer tips and tricks on how to prepare before filming, editing, story boarding and share simple film inspirations with easy-to-use resources.

Once complete, some of the films will be considered for a screening opportunity* as part of City of Whittlesea’s Listening to Land exhibition.

Note: Film selection is limited and based on diverse content and filming styles. (Be creative!)

For students who wish to contribute their film for consideration, submissions are due by 9 May 2021.

Selected films will be screened on 14 May 2021, between 6:30pm – 8pm at the City of Whittlesea Great Hall.
