As you commence your studies, we have put together a program of free activities in partnership with organisations in the Victorian community. We look forward to seeing you at one or more of these fun, free events. They are a great way to meet new people and find information that will help you thrive as an international student.

Melbourne Airport welcome

Volunteers will be at Melbourne Airport to welcome arriving international students and visitors to Victoria.
When: 7 days a week, 365 days a year and hours of operation are from 6am – 11pm

Student ambassadors will be at Avalon airport to welcome arriving international students and visitors to Victoria. Presented in partnership with Avalon airport and Tourism Greater Geelong and Bellarine.

Study Melbourne International Student Welcome Event

Join this Study Melbourne welcome event hosted in partnership with Asia TOPA, the Asia-Pacific Triennial of Performing Arts festival. This event will feature information about Study Melbourne, food and drinks, giveaways, and a welcome presentation from Study Melbourne and the Victorian Government.

When: Thursday 5 March, 6:30pm - 7:30pm
Where: Arts Centre Melbourne
Cost: Free. Registrations for this event will be opening soon.

This welcome event will be followed by a performance of Samsara, hosted by Asia TOPA. A limited number of free tickets will be available to international students for this event, please continue to check this page for updates.

City of Melbourne and Lord Mayor's Welcome

Join the City of Melbourne Lord Mayor's Welcome as they welcome new students to Melbourne. Experience live music, performances and games and much more. Visit the Study Melbourne booth for freebies and information on about our services and the Study Melbourne Student Centre.

When: Friday 13 March, 3:00pm - 6:00pm
Where: Arts Centre Melbourne Forecourt (underneath the spire)
Cost: Free. No registration required.

Study Geelong International Student Welcome Event

In partnership with Study Geelong.

Are you an international student studying in Geelong? Have you been here 6 months or less? Join us at this FREE event for a delicious BBQ, get up close with Aussie animals (real ones!), have a go at barefoot bowling, take awesome shots in the photo booth and get a Welcome Bag with information on things to see and do in the Geelong region, special offers and discounts. Come along and join in the fun.

When: Tuesday 17 March, 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm

Birrarung Marr Aboriginal Tour

Walking Tours

Aboriginal Walking Tour – Birrarung Wilam (River Camp) Walk

Learn about Melbourne’s Aboriginal history on this walk that takes you through Federation Square and down to the Birrarung Wilam (Common Ground) Aboriginal art installations.

When: Starting at 1pm each Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
Where: Yarra Building, Federation Square, Melbourne, Victoria
Cost: Free. Bookings are essential. Visit the Koorie Heritage Trust to book your space on these tours.

Frankston Street Art Walking Tours

Developed for international students, these street art tours provide the stories and background of over 20 murals by some of the best international, interstate and local artists. Tours also include a free hot drink, as a local barista provides you with some great background on Melbourne coffee culture, and how to order one!

When: Various dates between February and May 2020
Where: Tours start at Frankston Train Station, Frankston, Victoria
Cost: Free. Bookings are essential. Visit the Visit Frankston website to book your spot!
