Tell us a little bit about yourself and your achievements to date

I am a third-year Bachelor of Community Services student who is passionate about making a positive change in the lives of people. I am a dedicated community advocate who works to raise awareness of racial discrimination in Melbourne. My efforts have earned me a number of award nominations but getting to see the difference that I make in people’s lives is the ultimate reward.

What are your goals for the future?

After completing my studies, I want to work full time in the human rights advocacy sector. I want to continue inspiring others through my personal experiences and to work tirelessly to significantly reduce racism or, hopefully in my lifetime, to eradicate it.

Why are you excited about being a Study Melbourne Student Ambassador?

I’m excited to be an Ambassador because this opportunity gives me a platform to do what I love…helping people! I want to help international students have the best experience of studying and living in Melbourne and to provide support that I wish I had when I first arrived.

What do you love most about living and studying in Melbourne?

I love how multicultural Melbourne is. On any given day you are bound to bump into someone who looks like you or speaks your language. It is a home away from home. The city is vibrant and there is never a dull moment. Knowing that I’m getting a world-class education while living in this beautiful city is truly amazing.

What are you most passionate about when it comes to supporting other international students?

Unfortunately, international students are at high risk of being discriminated against based on race, culture and religion. I am passionate about supporting them through this difficult time. Letting them know what services they can access and that there is someone who understands what they are going through is key in making their journey easier and for them to enjoy their stay in Melbourne.
