On 28 June 2017, Study Melbourne and the Australia India Institute recently hosted an event to celebrate some of the successes of the Victoria India Internship Program (VIIP) and Victoria India Doctoral Scholarships (VIDS) program.
These programs aim to position Victoria as a global knowledge hub, through maintaining and growing the competitive position of its educational institutions, through enhanced research capability and delivery models.
The event was attended by interns, VIDS Scholarship recipients, representatives of host companies and other stakeholders. Some of the interns who have completed their internships at Tourism Australia, Tech Mahindra, Zomato and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) spoke about their experiences and learnings, conveying great enthusiasm and encouragement to future students wishing to partake in the program.
The VIDS program was launched in 2011 and between 2012 and 2015, 29 scholarships have been awarded. During their doctoral studies, these students had the opportunity to work with top Victorian researchers and supervisors, in world class technologically advanced infrastructure and research facilities. Nine 2014-2015 VIDS Scholarship recipients received their certificates confirming the award of the scholarship at the event.
