Six Victorian universities have ranked in the QS University Rankings Top 500 for 2018, and two in the Top 100. The results cement Victoria’s reputation as the Education State.

The University of Melbourne rose to 41st in the world, an improvement on its 2017 ranking of 42nd. It is also 11th in the world for graduate employability, and best in Australia for academic reputation and international student ratio.

Monash University rose to 60th from its 2017 ranking of 65th, and is a world leader in Pharmacy and Pharmacology, ranked 2nd worldwide.

Four other universities ranked among the world’s Top 500 – RMIT University, Deakin University, La Trobe University and Swinburne University of Technology. RMIT is ranked 17th for Art and Design, and Deakin is 24th for Nursing.

The QS World University Rankings are one of the leading indicators of education quality. Institutions are assessed according to six criteria, including international student and faculty ratios and academic reputation.
