Dereck studies a Diploma of Community Services from the Holmesglen Institute. He undertook a Bachelor Degree in Social Science (Social Work) and worked in youth work practice in Hong Kong before coming to Australia to study. Prior to enrolling in studies, Dereck spent four years working with different Australian community development organisations that focus on providing assistance to asylum seekers and providing support to alleviate poverty in Australia. His Diploma further enriched his knowledge of compliance and workplace communication.
