Building capability with a new mRNA Partnership between Victoria and Abu Dhabi

Victoria is a world leader in biotech and medical research and innovation. The state leads Australia in its mRNA research, and is equipped with outstanding therapeutic and clinical capabilities.

The Victorian Government is leveraging these capabilities to facilitate market access and growth across the Gulf states, opening doors to new opportunities through government-to-government collaboration.

In March 2022, mRNA Victoria, with the support of the Victorian and federal governments, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi. The MoU lays the groundwork for Victoria and Abu Dhabi to jointly build manufacturing capacity and provides a platform for investment in Victorian mRNA research from the Gulf .

The MoU facilitates knowledge sharing across Victorian universities, research institutes and industry, and connections into the information and expertise held by current and future partners in Abu Dhabi. Collaboration will include early-stage mRNA research and clinical trials, laying the foundations for thriving mRNA research ecosystems.
