Melbourne has once again been named as Australia's Best Student City, and amongst the very best in the world, according to the latest QS Best Student City 2025 rankings.

Melbourne has held this prestigious title since 2015 thanks to its world-class institutions and the sector’s ongoing commitment to providing an exceptional experience for international students.

Key highlights include:

  • Melbourne ranks #5 in the world overall behind London, Tokyo, Seoul and Munich
  • Melbourne ranks #1 in the world for Student Mix thanks to its rich cultural diversity and inclusiveness of its education providers. This vibrant mix of cultures and perspectives creates a unique and enriching experience for everyone.
  • Melbourne ranks #2 in the world for Student View based on a survey of students on important factors such as tolerance and inclusion, diversity, transport, affordability, nightlife, employment opportunities, arts and culture, and sustainability. Additionally, it reflects the high proportion of students who choose to stay in Melbourne after graduation, indicating strong employment prospects and overall satisfaction with the city.

These rankings reflect the positive experiences shared by our current and former students, and underline why so many choose to make Melbourne their choice for study.
