Tell us a little bit about yourself and your achievements to date

My name is Alex Gutierrez. I am an architect, designer and photographer. I’m originally from Colombia and currently studying Project Management at Greenwich Management College. Travelling is one of my passions and exploring Victoria is one of my 2020 travel goals. I really love nature and I’m also an environmental activist and a volunteer in different activities such as beach cleaning and plastic-free initiatives.

What are your goals for the future?


Some of my goals for the future are studying a master’s degree in design and sustainability, improving myself as human being in order to support others, and learning from other cultures by exploring the globe and sharing those experience through my photography.

Why are you excited about being a Study Melbourne Student Ambassador?

Becoming a Study Melbourne Student Ambassador is a great opportunity to support other international students by sharing with them our own experience in Melbourne and Victoria.

What do you love most about living and studying in Melbourne?

Living in Melbourne is a privilege – it´s like being in different countries at the same time. It´s vibrant, beautiful and so multicultural. Having the chance to study with students from the whole world opens your mind and gives you another perspective of life. As a nature lover, I love the idea of ​​living in a city surrounded by stunning natural parks, wildlife and natural landmarks such as Phillip Island and the Great Ocean Road.

What are your tips for students who have just arrived in Melbourne?

My piece of advice for all those students who have just arrived in Melbourne is to keep your spirit strong enough and open your mind and heart to live one of the most challenging, transforming and powerful life experiences that any human being can have. And of course, explore the city of Melbourne and the state of Victoria as much as you can.
