The 2024 QS World University Rankings: Sustainability showcases the outstanding sustainability achievements of higher educational institutions in Victoria, with the University of Melbourne securing the impressive #9 rank and Monash University close behind at #23 among the top 25 institutions worldwide. These rankings are a testament to the dedication of these institutions to prioritising sustainability.

The University of Melbourne emerges as the global leader for Environmental Sustainability and claims the 3rd position in the Impact of Education category. This recognition underscores the University of Melbourne's pivotal role in driving sustainable practices and shaping socially responsible leaders of the future.

Two other Victorian Universities are also ranked within the world's top 100 with RMIT University at #62 and Deakin University at #66.

Victoria’s universities offer research expertise rated ‘above world standard’ across  96 disciplines in the Excellence in Research Australia (ERA) rankings.

The University of Melbourne (53 study areas) beat all other universities worldwide with their number of top 100 rankings across the entire 56 subjects (areas of study) analysed.

Monash University also featured in the top 100 globally across 45 different study areas.
