Study Melbourne Hub Shanghai

On 31 March 2021, an opening ceremony was held at the newly completed Study Melbourne Hub located on the South Bund in Shanghai, China. With participants from Victoria joining the real-time event online, the event featured keynote speeches from distinguished Chinese partners and from Global Victoria. The opening of the Study Melbourne Hub, Shanghai reinforces Melbourne and Victoria as a world-class education partner.

The inaugural Hub is part of the Victorian Government initiative to establish a global network of Study Melbourne Hubs in key high-growth international education markets. The Hubs will be located in Shanghai, Bangalore, Ho Chi Minh City, and Kuala Lumpur – countries and regions that combine strong interest in study abroad and online study, as well as technology investment and expertise. The Hubs will sit alongside the Government’s existing network of Trade and Investment offices.

The Hubs will support international students currently studying online offshore, as well as prospective students, and provide a shared, physical location for students to study collectively. Students will be able to bring their own devices and connect to the Hub’s WiFi network and work in a modern, flexible space to suit their study needs – whether it be working collaboratively with fellow students, finding a quiet place to research, connecting into their Victorian Provider online, or joining student activities and events.

Students will also be able to access support and information on the variety of professional and lifestyle benefits of studying with a Victorian education provider. The Study Melbourne Hubs will be a space available for education sector stakeholders to organise and hold events ranging from student engagement activities, networking and social events, alumni-focussed events, promotional activities, to research collaboration and industry engagement.
