Tell us a little bit about yourself and your achievements to date

Hi, I am Lily Yi Li, an international student from China. I just completed my Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne. I have actively participated in different university activities, volunteered at local events and gained valuable work experiences and insights, including completing the Study Melbourne LIVE project.

What are your goals for the future?

I am very interested in arts, education and health. I aim to create positive impacts in the future with my professionalism and skills. As a certified mental health first aider, I believe every individual is unique and carries their stories. I want to find this harmony of humanity and help more people.

Why are you excited about being a Study Melbourne Student Ambassador?

I always like to embrace opportunity and grow. It is fascinating to meet other international students from different cultural backgrounds and get inspired by them. I would love to contribute to Study Melbourne as an Ambassador to support the international student community and improve their international student experience in Victoria.

What are you most passionate about when it comes to supporting other international students?

As an international student myself, previously I faced different challenges on my journey. However, it taught me how to stand still and be strong. I am very passionate about international students’ wellbeing and I am excited to meet other students and encourage them to become their better selves.

What is the most useful advice you ever received when you faced a challenging time as an international student?

Previously I volunteered as a journalist for the International Student Career Association to interview professional experts from different industries. One of the best pieces of advice I got from a CEO is to be confident in what you are doing. Confidence can give you the extra strength for personal development and employability.
