Tell us a little bit about yourself and your achievements to date

I’m currently in my final year of a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Criminology degree at La Trobe University. I recently spent time working in Malaysia under the Federal Government’s New Colombo Plan Initiative. I’m excited to support the international student community in their journey to studying in Melbourne.

What are your goals for the future?

In the future, I hope to put my law degree into practice through working in a private firm or government capacity. I hope to continue assisting the pro bono industry through volunteering my time at Community Legal Centres or other volunteer organisations.

Why are you excited about being a Study Melbourne Student Ambassador?

I am most excited about being a Study Melbourne Student Ambassador due to having the opportunity to assist international students in what is often a very difficult transition. Having had the opportunity to study and work overseas, I appreciate the initiatives implemented by Study Melbourne to contribute to the success of international students.

What is your advice to students who want to build their opportunities for graduate positions when they finish their course?

My advice is to start applying for volunteer positions in your first year of study. Volunteering can be a great way to obtain work experience in a range of different environments, whether in your field of work or in community outreach programs. I also encourage you to reach out to your university careers team who will be able to help you with polishing your resume and cover letters when applying for jobs.

What do you love most about living and studying in Melbourne?

What I love most about living and studying in Melbourne is the food and coffee culture. No matter what suburb you live in, Melbourne’s multicultural food and coffee culture is infectious. Be sure to check out hot spots like the Prahran Market and the Queen Victoria Market for global eateries.
