The ASEAN-Australia Young Leaders Forum (AAYLF) 2023 has come to a successful close!

The Study Melbourne Hub Kuala Lumpur are proud to have been a partner of this inspiring event, organised by ASEAN-Australia Strategic Youth Partnerships (AASYP). The forum, held from 23-26 June, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, brought together young leaders from ASEAN and Australia to discuss the theme of "Future Cities 2050".

Over 40 delegates from various backgrounds including artists, scientists, entrepreneurs, researchers, and policymakers, participated in the AAYLF 2023. This intensive 4-day forum provided a platform for meaningful discussions and collaborations among delegates from Australia, Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

AAYLF 2023 focused on 3 key sub-themes of diplomacy, environment, and industry within the Future Cities context. Delegates explored innovative ideas and shared insights on how to build sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous cities in the next 30 years.

We are proud to have been a forum partner, hosting panels, masterclasses, and skills sessions at the Study Melbourne Hub Kuala Lumpur for 2 days of the forum. The Hub is not just a physical space to collaborate and be inspired, it is also a connection point of an international community comprising of students, alumni, institutional and industry leaders who share a connection to Victoria.

The forum featured distinguished keynote speakers, including H.E. Ms Clare Gatehouse, Acting Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia, YB Tuan Syed Saddiq, Member of Parliament for Muar in the House of Representatives of Malaysia, and H.E. Mr Will Nankervis, Australian Ambassador to ASEAN. We were honoured to have our former Study Melbourne Ambassador, Darren Lee as one of the delegates, and the Victorian Government's very own Michael Baird, as part of the panel, sharing his insights on trade and investment within the ASEAN-Australia relationship.

We encourage all participants and volunteers to stay connected, exchange ideas, and take these learnings from AAYLF 2023 back to their respective communities.
