Study Melbourne was thrilled to deliver the Melbourne for Research – PhD Open Day on 8 November, in Hanoi, Vietnam. The event welcomed 80 attendees, including prospective PhD students from across Hanoi, representatives from the Australian Embassy and the Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), as well as our Victorian universities.

At the opening ceremony, Ms Jen Bahen, Counsellor (Education & Research), delivered the opening remarks on behalf of the Australian Embassy. This was followed by a presentation from Dr Minh Quach, who shared her inspirational PhD journey, from when she completed her doctoral degree at RMIT University, to her current role of International Education Officer at MOET.

The prospective PhD students also heard from academics from Australian Catholic University, Deakin UniversityFederation UniversityLa Trobe UniversityMonash UniversityRMIT University, and Victoria University who shared academic insights, information on research funding and grants, as well as other available support from their institutions.

The Open Day was an excellent opportunity to showcase Victorian PhD study opportunities in emerging international markets, and Study Melbourne looks forward to delivering similar events in the future.
