Bendigo is a large regional city that offers a relaxed lifestyle. It is home to La Trobe University’s Bendigo campus and Bendigo TAFE. Bendigo has a proud, rich Chinese history.

Bendigo was the centre of gold rush activity in the 1880s and is now Victoria's third biggest town with around 100,000 residents. It is proud of its goldmining history and celebrates this with museums and other tourist activities.

There are two Bendigo TAFE campuses in Bendigo - Bendigo City and Charleston Road.

Dedicated specialist facilities provide vibrant and modern learning spaces. The Health and Community Centre of Excellence at the Bendigo City Campus is home to all children’s services training and includes state of the art simulation labs. The Food and Fibre Centre of Excellence at the Charleston Road Campus has purpose-built agriculture, animal studies, horticulture and farming training centres.

Chinese heritage in Bendigo

In the 1850s, the gold rush in Bendigo attracted many Chinese people to the area to mine for gold.

The Golden Dragon museum celebrates Chinese heritage with a colourful display of Chinese symbolism, social history, goldfield history and Chinese dragons.

The museum is open every day except for Christmas day and offers tours in English and Mandarin.
